Taylor Pate is a Southwest-side Chicago-born-and-raised student and artist, majoring in Visual Arts and minoring in Education and Architectural Studies at the University of Chicago. Taylor is a sculptor and photographer. Their art is widely community-focused; their practice of assemblage sculpture is principled on the idea of honoring the community that influenced the work. And their photography spans two realms: that of the abstraction of the environment, primarily the dysfunctional marriage of nature and the industrial world, and that of the collective effervescence experienced in music and cultural events.
